Package registrations can be transfered from one owner to another, but
only if the product licensing agreement allows it. If it does not state
in writing there is no obligation on the part of the software vendor to
transfer the license. If you are consdering or have purchased piece of
software that you would like the registration transfered contact the
software publisher directly. It they may be nice enough to transfer the
registration anyway.

I have seen som vendors whose licensing agreement allows transfers. I have
also seen many more that forbid transfers. But most do not seem to state
one way or another.

PS. I am one of those strange people that do read my licensing agreements.

This question came up recently. Are software package registrations
transferable ? IE. Say one of these people selling their Amiga sells their
copy of Lattice as well. Can the new owner get the registration transfered
into his/her name so that notifications of upgrades/etc. will be sent to
the right place ?

PS. if anyone who actually knows posts a response, could they email me a
copy, as I don't have time to keep up with comp.sys.amiga lately, and I
don't want to miss the answer (w.r.t. Lattice anyway).

1) Lattice allows transfer and sends out updates based on their records,
not the original disk
   or manual cover.
2) For an upgrade or replacement disk, Electronic Arts usually wants
back the original disk or
cover of the manual depending on which product you are talking about.
3) A good portion of the of the other companies want the original disk
back for the upgrade.
(This includes games and commercial products.)

I hope this helps.
