[comp.sys.amiga] PAL/NTSC Hardware Switch

BARRETT@owl.ecil.iastate.edu (Marc Barrett) (06/14/90)

I would like to install a switch in my A500 to switch between NTSC
and PAL video modes. I like to put my computer into PAL mode occasionally
to run European demos, view PAL-sized IFF pictures, or anything else that
would require the increased resolution of the PAL video mode.

I have tried the various programs written to put your computer into
PAL video mode, with varying results. The program 'PAL', which immediately
throws your computer into PAL mode, works, but it needs to be run from
AmigaDOS, and yhus doesn't do much good for games and demos that have
their own autobood sectors. The program 'PALBoot', which installs a
romtag to throw the computer into PAL mode upon the next reboot, does
not work at all, perhaps because I have the 1.3 ROM.

So, could anyone enlighten me as to the procedure for installing
a PAL/NTSC hardware switch? I need to know, in particular, the names
and locations of the traces and/or jumper pads on the motherboard of
the A500 that would be involved in such a switch.
