[net.general] Do you know all the State Capitals?

mark@cbosgd.UUCP (08/16/83)

(For those of you outside the USA, please ignore this - I'd restrict it to
usa.all but we don't have such a newsgroup class. Sorry for the extra
distribution.)

There was an article in Ann Landers yesterday berating the students of
America for being such dummies because they don't know all the state
capitals. This led me to wonder - this net has a lot of highly educated
people on it; how well do we know the state capitals? I'd like to
conduct a little experiment. Right now, would you please try this:
	!/usr/games/quiz state capital
and see how many of the 50 you know. Send me a note via mail (use the 'r'
command) and tell me
how many you got on the first guess (typing and spelling errors
		can, of course, be forgiven)
what your most recent degree or diploma was
what your major for that degree/diploma was
whether you were required to learn the capitals in school
I will accumulate the information by category, and will discard your name
at once. I'll then post results to net.followup.

______________

*I'm* a dummy for not knowing this utterly useless piece of trivia?!? I think
the dummy is anybody who spends more than 30 seconds memorizing such junk.
