(For those of you outside the USA, please ignore this - I'd restrict it to usa.all but we don't have such a newsgroup class. Sorry for the extra distribution.) There was an article in Ann Landers yesterday berating the students of America for being such dummies because they don't know all the state capitals. This led me to wonder - this net has a lot of highly educated people on it; how well do we know the state capitals? I'd like to conduct a little experiment. Right now, would you please try this: !/usr/games/quiz state capital and see how many of the 50 you know. Send me a note via mail (use the 'r' command) and tell me how many you got on the first guess (typing and spelling errors can, of course, be forgiven) what your most recent degree or diploma was what your major for that degree/diploma was whether you were required to learn the capitals in school I will accumulate the information by category, and will discard your name at once. I'll then post results to net.followup. Mark

I think the dummy is anybody who spends more than 30 seconds memorizing such junk.
