[comp.sys.amiga] SVGA card

gilgalad@dip.eecs.umich.edu (Ralph Seguin) (06/27/90)

I don't think that it is such a good idea to develop a SVGA card for the
Amiga. Commodore is working on some sort of hires graphics (24 bit too),
needless to say. When they release theirs, it will be the standard.
I don't think you should go into an endeavor without realizing what
Commodore is going to be doing. Suppose that your card doesn't
run under their Retargetable Graphics software?
If you do plan on working on such a project, you should probably contact
Commodore and see if:

	-it is a futile gesture
	-it's fine by them
-they have some sort of standard that they'd like you to
	 conform to
-any other suggestions that they can give

			See ya, Ralph

Well, for me (not involved in this..) it has taken C= WAY TO LONG to see the
need to up the graphics. Nothing is futile until they ship.

Why ?? What difference would it make ?

I am sure they would. But for what its worth , in this case (I >ABHORE<
these types of hacks) that standard would push development cost up to high.

No one is gonna animate on it , no one will draw on it .. ALL MOSYT OF US
WANT ARE 256 COLOR NON HAMS 800x600 >STATIC< screens for QRT output. No
standard needed for that at all.
