I am looking for a cheap and easy way to allow 6 A500's to use the same harddrive. Is there some sort of gizmo out there that will let me do it? How long can the cables be? How much does it cost? Thanks, Pete Peter_Warren_Lee@cup.portal.com

Is there some sort of gizmo out there that will let me do it? Not sure about this, but SCSInet MIGHT be a possibility. A friend of mine uses it to hook two Amigas to a bunch of HDs he has. SCSInet allows multiple "hosts" on one bus. Since there are 7 spaces, 6 Amigas and one HD might work if SCSInet allows more than two hosts (?). Also, another factor is that the only SCSInet implementation for the Amiga I know was with CLtd HD interfaces. Other than that I can see no way to hook 6 Amigas together or to anything else short of using some sort of actual network like Ethernet. Which would be possible, but probably more expensive than buying a SCSI interface for each one and using SCSInet. You would have to be sure that a Diskchange command was performed on EACH Amiga after any write by any of them, to validate the bitmap that's held in RAM, or else you will quickly get a badly screwed hard drive... this could be an inconvenience, unless only one is ever writing to the disk. . <<<<Infinite K>>>> -- .---------------------------------------------------------------------------. |Ben Scott, professional goof-off and consultant at The Raster Image, Denver| |Amiga UUCP node domain: bscott@vila.denver.co.us Else: bscott@nyx.cs.du.edu| |FIDO point address 1:104/421.2, or call the Arvada 68K BBS at (303)424-9831| |"Don't embarrass us..."
