[comp.sys.amiga] Thought's about appletalk-a solution

Hi,

Sorry, that I can't qoute any info, but I use a vax, and need to use
a different utility to send my mail and to receive my mail.
But There is a appletalk to serial apparatus,
made by SHIVA called NetSerial.
Is works as a node on the network.
You have to give it a name from a macintosh,
And is hayes compatible on the other side.
It has a 32kROM, 8031/8bit CPU/11.06MHZ 8KB static RAM.
Appletalk communication is at 230.4 Kbps
RS232 is from 110 to 57,600 bps.
Now you can just hook it up to your amiga, and with the right software,
it can work just fine.
From the documents:"IT can even be used as a gateway to minimcomputers and
mainframes". Only the price: $499. Educational discount:$259.
Who wants to write a APPLETALK-device driver???
(For me this is too expensive, I will just up&down load my postscriptfiles,
pd-software, and use the VAX for VAX-stuff)
