Now that issue 200 of volume 90 of comp.sources.amiga has been posted, it seems to be an ideal time to post a summary of the group so far. This is a list of all postings, and some statistical stuff. All comp.sources.amiga postings are achived on xanth.cs.odu.edu, and those archives are available via anonymous ftp in the directory /usenet. Persons without direct ftp access to the Internet can access these files using the BITFTP server. Send a ``help'' message via mail to BITFTP@PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU for information. None of this would be possible without the great people who have submitted software to comp.sources.amiga. We all owe them a great thanks for their work (and patience). Thanks! ...tad -- Mail submissions (sources or binaries) to <amiga@cs.odu.edu>. Mail comments to the moderator at <amiga-request@cs.odu.edu>. I'm trying to ftp from the /usenet/comp.sources.amiga at xanth.cs.odu.edu. Can anyone tell me why I can't *get* route-1.0 int the applications directory. This is in 6 compressed parts (.Z) and I get the response : ***************************************************************************** ftp> get part06.Z 200 PORT command successful. 550 part06.Z: Probably a BINARY file. Perhaps you should set TYPE I first. ***************************************************************************** Problem is ftp doesn't seem to recognize type I. I'm interested in route-1.0 : is this an electronics design CAD (like ORCAD on PC) or just a router (like SMARTWORK ) ? Any help would be appreciated (via E MAIL please.) Thanks, Luc. ******************************************************************** Luc Langlois , Institut de Recherche d'Hydro Quebec Varennes, Que. CANADA INTERNET langlo@ireq.hydro.qc.ca

If you don't use the binary command, you wouldn't be able to use the file -- it would be corrupted. ...tad
