I'm having some trouble using ATalkIII from my hard disk, and am hoping someone (maybe Marco) can clue me in on how to fix it. The problem started after I backed up my HD due to some sector problems. I had to zero the drive, and reinstalled a new WorkBench, this time using Supra's SupraBoot. I later noticed when I restored the old files some software wouldn't work, including AT3, so I deleted them and copied them over from the master disks, and the others seem to be fine, except AT3 still won't work for me. My system is a vanilla A1000, and is basically the same as when I had it working before except for the Supra install programs. Here's what's happening: I'll load up the program from the WB icon or CLI; the screen comes up fine as does the PhoneBook screen; everything looks okay, but when I try to dial I can't make a connection. All the digits of the number will dial, but after the last one I get a recorded phone message saying "... call did not go through..." I've checked the scripts and settings, and they all seem to be activating, but no connection is made. I later tried using the program from a disk rather than the HD, but got the same problem (by the way I'm using an external Supra 2400 modem). Next thing I tried was to reboot and not mount the HD at all, then try AT3 from a disk, and then it worked fine, so I figure the modem and serial.device (same one as on HD) are okay. I've even tried deleting all the AT3 directory files from HD and re-installing it using the install program. Nope, didn't work. Watching how the program worked after the reboot I saw that when a connection was made, the SYSTEM drive (df0:) would light up, making me think that some command is being sent there that my HD isn't recognizing. I was using an old CLtd install program before and AT3 was working then, but after I zeroed the drive and installed Supra's system, it won't work for me. I hope I haven't confused you too much with the above problem description. Basically, now I can only use AT3 as long as I don't mount the HD - why? Other programs work; the parallel port works; and AT3 >tries< to work, but won't make the connection. Could the Supra system be interferring with the serial device somehow? The modem is the only serial device I have so I can't really try anything else on it. What command is being sent to the system when a phone connection is made, or exactly what is happening at that point? I really want this on my HD! I'm using an old version 1.1A, so I've ordered the new 1.3C - can I expect that to work? Would it do me any good to call Supra? I called Oxxi, but they couldn't help me. Any responses appreciated.
