I have owned AmigaTeX for about a year and a half and in general have been really pleased with its performance. About six months ago I bought a Amiga 2500/30 and am now having problems with AmigaTeX (specifically with dviljp). TeX works fine, the previewer works fine, but dviljp usually refuses to work. It will dump about 10% of the pages (if I am lucky) then hang. If I "cmd" the output to a file, it will run to completion about 50% of the time. The cmd'd file prints flawlessly on the LaserJet. I have not updated my version of AmigaTeX since I purchased it, but it has never had anyproblems on my 1000, 2000, or now 2500/30. I believe if I boot in 68000 mode the problem is less frequent (it has been a while since I tried it). I dug through all my old system software looking for an older parallel.device, but none of the version I have (about 5 of them) seem to help. Any clues? I also have owned Aztec C for about 4 years now and have always been pleased with it (still running 3.6, I really should upgrade my software, maybe after I finish paying for the computer). Now it seems as though my Aztec C does not get along very well with the 2630, in fact Aztec C seems to hate my 2630. Sometimes the compiler crashes, sometimes the compiler generates code that the assembler doesn't recognize, sometimes the assembler generates code that the linker doesn't recognize. If I compile the same code in 68000 mode, then I have no problems. I have tried turning off the various caches with no success. The problem will usually go away if I reorganize a complicated calculation. Sometimes I have to make it simpler, sometimes more complex. Does anyone recognize this problem? Has it been fixed in 5.0? I am not currently doing any programming at the moment but I will be rewriting PLT: later this summer so a working C compiler would be nice. I also haven't written any techincal papers at home for a while, but it is coming close to the time when I have to write that thesis-type thing.
