I have two problems that I am hoping someone can help me with. The first is a relatively minor software problem: I have examined Matt Dillon's pipe handler code, and have written my own AmigaDOS handler, which doesn't quite work. Now I have read that for devices and handlers you must link them without any startup code. Given that for Lattice C 5.01 (?) the link statement looks like blink lib:c.o+<file>.o library lib:lc.o+lib:amiga.lib to <file> and that the removal of any of these libraries leads to unresolved references, just how do I link without the usual startup code? My second problem is a much more major hardware problem. Every so often (which means anything from once a week to five times in half an hour), my A500 crashes in the middle of whatever I am doing, seemingly without any similarities between the occurances. Sometimes it even reboots in the middle of rebooting, which causes my second floppy drive to repeatedly click on and off. Now it appears that the reboot is a normal warm startup, with the only major result that the ramb0: (card:) recoverable ram drive has a validation error. A possibly seperate error is that even more rarely (sometimes even on a normal cold reboot for the first time that day), while rebooting the caps lock key repeatedly flashes on and off, and although startup-sequence is run correctly, the CLI (my default window) refuses to accept any input, even though intuition acts on it correctly. Has anybody encountered this type of problem before? And if not, have you any suggestions as to how I should check where the problem might be? I've put up with it for a long time now, because I haven't felt able to describe the problem precisely enough for the service people to fix, but it's driving me up the wall!! Help, help, help! Thanks, Geoff Jarrad

Check your power line in first place and then the power supply unit of your A500. -- Best regards, Dr. Peter Kittel // E-Mail to Commodore Frankfurt, Germany \X/ rutgers!cbmvax!cbmger!peterk
