I've just received a catalogue from Pre'Spect technologies ( a canadian company, that amongst other things markets the ALF line of hard-disk controllers ). Anyway, I see that they're listing a 'turbo' upgrade package for a CBM 2090a controller, which purportdly boosts the throughput of the controller by 50%. Unfortunately that's ALL they say about it .. no mention of whether it's just a ROM upgrade, how it gets this increase, whether ( if it's a ROM driver upgrade ) it also gets around the necessity of a OFS partition to auto-boot too ( my pet peeve against the 2090a ). If anyone has any more info on this package ( or even better, if they've actually installed or used it !! ), I'd really appreciate hearing from them ... ( it's $100cdn so I'd like some firm info before sending off for it - it looks like it's either the pre'spect kit or hock off the 2090a and mail order a 2091 in from the US .. the 2091 is _still_ not available in NZ ) ----------------------------------------------------------- | o John Davis - CHEM194@canterbury.ac.nz o | | o (Depart)mental Programmer,Chemistry Department o | | o University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand o | | o o | | o co-sysop AmigaINFO BBS,1200/2400 baud CCITT, o | | o 24 hours a day, ph NZ +3-3371-531 o |
