[comp.sys.amiga] Read before voting! comp.sys.amiga.games SECOND CALL FOR VOTES

xanthian@zorch.SF-Bay.ORG (Kent Paul Dolan) (07/26/90)

READ THIS WHOLE ARTICLE BEFORE VOTING; "R"EPLY WILL _NOT_ WORK!

The voting period is about half way done, so here is a repost
(with a couple of appropriate changes) of the first CALL FOR VOTES
for comp.sys.amiga.games, for those whose vacations and news expiry
made the first vote call pass unnoticed. A mass ack of votes
received so far has been posted to news.groups and the unmoderated
comp.sys.amiga.* groups in a separate article.

Get those votes in if you want to vote, time grows short.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a call for votes for a "new" newsgroup comp.sys.amiga.games. The
group is alive and well, but it was created improperly, and only lives by
sufferance of sysops who liked its purpose. The purpose of this vote, as
noted in the call for discussion, is to formalize the existance of the
group.

Purpose: to provide a separate forum for the games discussions now occuring
in other Amiga newsgroups.

Name: the name of the proposed group will be comp.sys.amiga.games.

Charter: discussions of game play, game availability, and game quality
for the Commodore Amiga computer family.

Status: unmoderated

Per requests during the discussion period, discussions of game design and
game programming will not be included, but left in comp.sys.amiga{,tech}
as at present.

VOTING:

EMAIL ONLY! POSTED votes will be RIDICULED, FLAMED, and IGNORED!

--------------------------------------------------------
| EMail YES votes to: csag_yes@Zorch.SF-Bay.ORG |
--------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------
| EMail NO votes to: csag_no@Zorch.SF-Bay.ORG |
--------------------------------------------------------

NOTICE that EACH address contains _one_ UNDERSCORE and _one_ HYPHEN.
Get it right or your vote will bounce.

These are both tested, operational mail addresses in a registered
domain. If you can't get mail to them, cry to your sysop and your
mail path sites, not to me.

CONTENTS of vote email will be IGNORED! If you want to flame me,
send it to me! If you send it to the vote address, you just voted!
If you send a vote saying

"NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! Life as we know it will END if
       this newsgroup passes!"

   or

"I'll support you on this ONLY if the group is renamed
       comp.sys.tcp-ip.eniac.late.night.snacks."

to csag_yes, you just voted YES!

Votes sent to MY mailbox will be IGNORED! Only, ONLY votes sent to
the above two addresses will be considered. If you care enough to
vote, CARE ENOUGH TO DO IT RIGHT!

[And PLEASE, have the wits NOT to send me back THIS WHOLE ARTICLE;
I've read it, honest!]

[Anybody want to take long odds against my contention that there will
_still_ be 20% improper votes? History is on my side.]

If I get ambitious, a mid-stream second call for votes MAY be posted.
[And here it is!]

If every mail site from you to me left the mail header functional, you
may even luck out and receive a vote acknowledgement. If the sites
your vote passes through or starts at are too braindead to maintain a
valid "R"eply path, lots of luck hearing from me. I'm not about to
debug several hundred mail paths, it takes days to get one fixed by
the postmasters along the way.

VOTING WILL END at close of business (Midnight Pacific Daylight Time),
21 days from [the first call for votes], or 6 August 1990. Votes
received after that time will be GLEEFULLY DISCARDED.

The DISCUSSION PERIOD is OVER!

Here's YOUR CHANCE to EXERCISE YOUR FRANCHISE. Give it your best shot!

Kent, the man from xanth.

Who naturally would prefer to see this vote pass, but obviously isn't
losing much sleep over it. ;-)
[I lied, I'm losing lots of sleep over it; taking votes is the pits.]
