I am interested in developing a dBASE-compatible application on my Amiga for a service organization I am involved in. Since I do not anticipate any revenues from the project, nor any financial support from the organization, I would like the DBMS to be public domain or relatively inexpensive. Since I would like the applications to be portable to MS-DOS dBASE clones (or the real McCoy), dBASE query language compatibility is a must. A DBMS that can read and write dBASE files, but can't handle dBASE's language for applications is not an option. I am aware of dBMANIV, which has a direct MessyDos counterpart, but unfortunately, unless things change drastically, it is out of my price range. If you have any experience with a dBASEIII-compatible DBMS on an Amiga, I would appreciate hearing from you. If you know of a program, but haven't used it yourself, please let me know about it, including an ftp source, if available. If you have developed a dBASE-type application for both the Amiga and MS-DOS world, I would especially like to hear from you. Please reply by e-mail, and if volume and interest warrant, I will summarize to the net.
