I currently own an A2000. I have lots of software for it (DpaintII, DigiPaint, DigiView, Turbo Silver, Opticks, Manx C, Phasar, Tax Break, Perfect Sound, Dr T, ...). Question: If I upgrade to 2.0, does anyone know what will be required to upgrade the software?? Has anyone heard from the Software venders as to the costs?? I plan on moving up to an A3000 as soon as things stabalize (bugs get worked out, etc.) I would also like to get ProPaint and ProPage NOW, but if its going to cost me later to upgrade to a 2.0 version, I'll wait until I get 2.0. In-Reply-To: message from alfredo@ajahnv.lonestar.org You probubly won't be seeing new versions of software that presently breaks under 2.0...most of the developers will be waiting until it's frozen, which is a pretty smart move on their part. Fall isn't too far away... Professional DRAW 2.0 already works, but I can't say the same thing for ProPage. PageStream works, but it's not as heavy duty as ProPage in certain areas, and I don't have a copy of Saxon Publish to test, but I'm pretty sure it would run...but then that's what I said about alot of other packages ;^) I still haven't seen any of the rumored "2.0 capable" stickers...maybe after the A3000s are in full production. The first software I've seen with the "2.0 compatable" sticker (it is a day-glow green color... hard to miss!) is "Elan Performer" and I think it has just started shipping with the sticker in the past few weeks. [ Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with Elan Performer. Just dispelling rumors... The VRLI (Virtual Realities Laboratories, Inc.) programs Distant Suns and Vista are 2.0 compatible. The copy of Vista I had had the CBM sticker on it, they then sent me an update of the 2.0 compatible version of Distant Suns. BTW, I recommend these programs. Vista does some amazing landscape generation, and Distant Suns is an absolutely WONDERFUL planetarium program. If you're into astronomy, get Distant Suns. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rick Stevens, Small Scale Systems of Southern California sysop@xyclone.uucp | rps2@amoeba2.uucp | CIS: 75006,1355 | BIX: smallscale "I'm tellin' ya, Valiant! In-Reply-To: message from rps2@amoeba2.UUCP I agree...Vista is nice package. I like the pictures that Scene Generator makes better, but Scene Generator won't save its landscapes as 3D objects. I've pulled in Vista landscapes into 3D Professional as Silver objects, and they look really nice when you apply textures to them.
