Hello Netland!
I have big trouble right here in river city...I went to boot up my 2 week old
A590 and no dice. It seems to spin up fine...but when the boot disk attempts
to mount the drive the light comes on but I don't hear the usual "speaky" sound
of the drive being accessed. Instead all I get is near silence and the light
stays on for awhile...then quits...then back on...(happens 3 times I think)
then the boot disk just goes on and the HD icon doesn't come up. I went into
the HD Toolbox to see if I could tell what is wrong...It says that it doesn't
know what kind of drive is connected to the XT controller. I tried setting the
drive back but when I went to save the changes I got a "write error -1" and
then it went back to the menu. So nothing has been changed.
I didn't have the drive backed up yet, as I wasn't quite done getting
everything just the way I wanted it...but it was very close. So if at all
possible I don't want to reformat the drive!
My system is an A500 running Kickstart 1.2 with an A501 inside, external drive,
etc. If anyone could please help me save my work I would be VERY greatfull!
Thanks a Meg! (Hopefully 20!)
