[comp.sys.amiga] Some more good news about Amiga graphics.

THOMAS@ds.huji.ac.il (08/02/90)

Hello Amigoids !
      --------

With everyone talking about 8 and 24 bit color upgrades not availible for Amiga
here is something I read from an English magazine called Amiga Computing. This
is reproduced without their permission : Amiga Computing July 1990,page 10:

"Multi-million colour show"
LATER this year Martin Lowe of Amiga Centre Scotland (031-557 4242) hopes to
launch the ACS Framebuffer I, a display device which gives users the option of
more colours and greater resolution than are inherent in the Amiga.
A prototype of the device is in existence but an exact release date or price
have yet to be decided.
Framebuffer I features full 16 million colour display, PAL and NTSC, RGB
analogue output, full overscan, 24 bits per pixel pallete, output to a standard
RGB monitor and 32 bits per pixel design.
It has option expansion of an additional four or eight bits per pixel,
additional display ram for double buffering, Genlock and 601 digital video
output.
Resolutions supported are 896*578 (PAL), 896*490 (NTSC) in Mode 1; 720*578
(PAL) and 720*490 (NTSC) in Mode 2; 601 digital video. Among bit mapped
graphics file formats supported are IFF ILBM 2-24 bit plains, Sculpt 4D 24 bit
files, Scanlab 24 bit files, Digi View 21 bit files and Targa files.

This sure sounds really nice. Pitty they didn't state any estimation of price
for this one. Anyway it is worth waiting for. Included were 2 fantastic pics
one was a Zac McCraken in 24 bit ( Wonderfull! ) and second some ray tracing.
Under that they said the Amiga threatens the Mac because it will become the
cheapest 24 bit computer ( That should say the board will be not that steep I
guess ) . I have no more info on this. Phone the number if you want more.
