I can not get DNet to work! The unix side is sun 4.03 and I know that the doc says it will not work. Has anyone gotten it to work? The strange thing is that the day I compiled it, I got the Fterm and putfiles to work, but now it will not work. Any clues? --Kasper -- Kasper Osterbye Internet: kasper@iesd.auc.dk Institute for electronic systems UUCP: ...!mcvax!iesd!kasper Strandvejen 19, 9000 Aalborg DENMARK. (W) +45 98 13 87 88-285 (H) +45 98 37 30 65 I have run Dnet without problems using a SPARCstation 1 running 4.3BSD unix version 4.1. I have also tried Dnet with a Sun 3 and unix 4.03 and it worked fine too. The amiga side was an A500 with 1 meg ram and 2 floppys. A direct conection over the serial line was used. I only had one problem. I work usually with C-Shell 4.01a on my amiga so I don't need EXECUTE to run scripts and I don't have that file in my c: directory. When I run dnet for the first time I got the dnet window, I made the conection and run dnet on the unix side, then, the dnet window disappiared but nothing more heppened. Reading the source I found that EXECUTE was needed to launch fterm at first. I put it on the disk and the problem was solved. When I got it to work I tried with different speeds and with 7 and 8 bits conections. The best one I found was 19200 bauds. At 38400 there were a lot of checksum errors althought the conexion still reliable and usable. I coudn't appreciate too much difference using 7 or 8 bits but I was using ASCII almost all the time and I onlu tried sending and receiving a few binary files, so this couldn't be significant. Now I have some questions about the programs which came with dnet. I have used putfiles, getfiles and loadav on the amiga side without problems (The last one was wonderfull :->), but I don't know how to use the nfs-handler and its service on the unix side snfs. It's possible to mount NF0: and use the hard drive on the unix side...?. Also I don't how to use putfiles and getfiles, on the unix side. It's possible to open a session in the amiga from the unix machine? I appreciate any help. Thanks! P.S: Congratulations to Matthew Dillon for such wonderful program.
