[This article went out the other day in net.general,net.announce, net.news.group. Problem is, some sites still throw net.announce on the floor, so this didn't make it everywhere. Since I consider it important, I'm repeating it without mentioning net.announce. - MRH] After receiving many positive replies and no negative ones, I have created two newsgroups: net.news.sa a means of reaching all UNIX system administrators. net.news.adm a means of reaching all Usenet administrators Thus, when something important of interest to either group occurs, we'll have a way to contact everybody. They were made subgroups of net.news since net.news has better distribution than a new newsgroup might get. If you are a system administrator, please subscribe to net.news.sa. If you are the Usenet contact for any machine on Usenet, please subscribe to net.news.adm. If you are both, please subscribe to both. It is intended that these will be low volume newsgroups. Sort of like net.announce, but for things that aren't of interest to random users out there. It won't be moderated, and although discussions ala unix-wizards are discouraged, followups and brief discussion of a critical issue are possible. net.news.sa is envisioned for announcement of serious bugs (hopefully with fixes), especially those affecting security - we'd like the SA's to find out about the problem before the interlopers do, not after. Usenet admins - there is already something on net.news.adm about creating new newsgroup classes na, usa, and mod - please read it and make the new classes. (The article was also on net.news in case the newgroup message didn't make it to your site.) Mark Horton
