[comp.sys.amiga] lucas-board

subrata@ra.src.umd.edu (Subrata Kumar Dutta) (07/14/90)

Recently, I have seen the lucas board(?) mentioned on this group. I
understand that it is way to install a 68020 CPU into the amiga 1000.
Could someone please provide me more information regarding this
product, including price, installation, and reliability? Thank you.

I, too, am interested in this information.

I have one. It works pretty well for me, but required a fair amount
of massaging by a hardware knowledgable friend of mine. Mostly the
installation of documented upgrades and improvements to the hardware.
I bought mine 2nd hand partially completed, and we also a couple of evening
reworking some of the previous work.
This is not a project for the faint hearted, but it can yield
excellent results.
I also have the Frances 4Mbyte 32-bit RAM expansion. It also works
quite well for me. I do not have any other preipherals connected to
my system (well, a printer). I am currently attempting to get a wedge/OMTI
combination working, but the wedge driver seems to be 68020 incompatible.

There are two articles in Amiga Transactor covering the LUCAS board
the first is December 1988 and the other is August 1989.
The first one covers the LUCAS board itself and the second covers the a 32bit
4 meg memory board.

The gentleman that designed the board can be reached at
anakin@gpu.utcs.toronto.edu (Brad Fowles)

There are also files that can be FTPed that describe the board.
