ok, here is the situation:
i recently (today in fact) bought a used harddrive. i got home and plugged
it in.. i got a blink of the screen, then it rested on the dk. brown
screen (i believe the one that says registers all work) then it freezes
and the power light blinks at me. a quick call to the guy who sold it to
me and he tells me that it is most likely the rom in my computer (500)
so i open up the computer, call a local store, and quote them the number
of the rom chip. sure enough its 1.2 like the guy said, and i asked them
how much for a 1.3 rom chip. they tell me $45.80 plus $30.some for the
installation (well, i can do without the installation even though it means
i get no warranty *oh sob sob*). well, what i would like to know is anyone
else have this problem? is it indeed the rom version? is there anywhere i
can pick up these roms for cheaper? if so, is there anywhere i can order
them from and get them soon (like next day mail or something like that).
i just spent the last of my money on that harddrive and would like to get
my system up very quickly. thanx in advanced.

(amiga 500, hd is C Ltd. 30 meg. plugs into the side of the 500. i
tried turning on same time, hd first, computer first. i tried without
my ram expansion {501} without my second disk drive, without my modem
and still no luck.) oh, also i have this problem where when i boot up
i get "battery backed up clock not found". i tried removing, replacing
the ram pack with no luck, i heard something about this about a week ago
but ferget what the outcome was.
