Summary; Computer's coming, need some basic software recomendations Distribution: na First, I want to thank all the people who answered my initial questions about the Amiga computer. You all gave good, well balanced answers that were more than just, "It's great! Buy one!" I went out and looked at one in a store and now I have arranged to purchase an Amiga 500 with 1 meg RAM and a 46 megabyte hard disk. Now, having bought the system comes the FUN part: Learning all about a new system! Now that I have the hardware, comes the software and the books. How about some recomendations on begining books for the Amiga? As far as software, I'd be looking for BASIC (if it doesn't come with the Amiga), 'C', a good word processor, telecom program, a spreedsheet, and a database. An all in one package for the productivity stuff would be fine too. I can't really ask for recomendations in other areas such as the games, animation, graphics, and sound, since they are all so new to me, I need to time to discover what it is I need to ask about! But for the right here and now, I need those basics before I can sell my old computer. I'd appreciate any and all recomendations you as experienced Amiga owners might have, both commercial and public domain. -- Mark E.
