(...it took me years to code, will you take a look?...) Actually, it took me all of one night to write... Hi! Now available on what will most likely eternally be known as "Xanth" (abcfd20.larc.nasa.gov, 128.155.23.64), in the /incoming/amiga directory, is a little utility I wrote called IFFhdr. It simply reads one or several IFF ILBM graphics files and outputs the header information, specifically, the raster dimensions (XY), the screen dimensions and the number of bitplanes and colors in the picture. It's pretty basic, but I thought I'd find it handy and that others might too. However, that's not really the reason I wrote it... It was mainly a programming exercise. I think it's pretty good, but I have higher plans for it and also think it most likely could be better; I'm very new to programming. THAT's the real reason I'm distributing it; to solicit any sage advise that much more experienced programmers out there may be able to give me. I'm sure I need all the help I can get, and I would like this to be a truly useful and nifty little program when it's really done; also, any knowledge gained can only serve to help in writing other programs later. So, I'd like to encourage anyone would might like this program to get it and use it. Moreover, I'd like to ask anyone with some programming knowledge to get it, look it over, see if I'm doing any obviously bad things, see if there are any subtle points which would improve the program, etc. I explain all this more fully in IFFhdr.c, the source, in a large-ish opening comment section which I have in lieu of a .doc file. The .lzh of this program is only 8K, so there's not much to it...yet... Please, give it a look-see... and thank you Amiga Community! -- //..is|While 1 DO|Erin,Erin, where are|Art of Noise space| -- Ceej (= \X/there| Fork; |you? /-----------.-^------------------|ceej@pawl.rpi.edu AMIGAany|----------^-----|Cebhq gb or|Reclaimer:Hey!That's| gmry@mts.rpi.edu (=other?|HOW DO YOU FEEL.|Yvoreny!
