I recently picked up an old dumb terminal for about $5 at a flea market, and I want to be able to use it with AUX: as a remote CLI. However, I can't get it to run - it works perfectly with any terminal program (it's a classic ADM-3A) but not with AUX:. I never have been able to get AUX: to work, and I've tried it with my other Amiga hooked up (DNET works fine between the two computers so I don't think it's the serial cable). I do the normal "mount AUX:" (WB mount, not ARP) and then "newcli AUX:" and the commands seem to go through OK (and I see the tasks set up in Xoper) but the commands didn't work right - UNTIL TODAY. Earlier today I got it to work halfway - I could type commands into the terminal and they'd run, but any return codes, messages, or even the prompt would be garbage on the other side. I tried using a serial port snoop program, but it only showed incoming text (which looked fine). And again, it works just great with a terminal program running instead of AUX:. I'm sure I have Preferences set properly (pretty sure; hey, if it works one way...) and I saw a message from a Commodore guy who said something about setting the baud rate in the mountlist rather than Preferences. I wrote asking him if this was a mistake or what, and if not, how to do it (as the 1.3 Enhancer manual has nothing about that) but have got no reply. If anyone has any idea why I would have a problem like this, please send me mail. . <<<<Infinite K>>>>

It used to, but now I send it and it does NOT bounce, but neither does it arrive (which I found out by talking to the indended recipients on the phone.) Does anyone have any ideas? I think you might have a parroty problem. You may need to play with the bits/parity either in Preferences or on the terminal to match them up. Turn handshaking off to make sure nothing is messing you up. Try it with a minimal serial cable (2, 3, and 7). -larry -- Sex is better than logic, but I can't prove it. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | // Larry Phillips | | \X/ lphillips@lpami.wimsey.bc.ca -or- uunet!van-bc!lpami!lphillips | | COMPUSERVE: 76703,4322 -or- 76703.4322@compuserve.com | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
