[comp.sys.amiga] Less/GOMF patch

leivian@dover.sps.mot.com (Bob Leivian) (08/04/90)

After posting a patch to the net for Less 1.3 to determine if
GOFM was writting to low mem after a failed OpenWindow call I
have gotten lots of replys of the form "use GFXbase to get the
prefered number of rows and columns", I KNOW about this and
when I make a new release it will use this strategy!

But my question (perhaps poorly worded) is still unanswered.
DOES THE LOW MEM WRITE OCCUR IF THIS PATCH IS APPLIED? That is
the question! I want to make sure that changing the open will
fix the problem.

I don't have GOMF and I can't check it out. While I appreciate
all the programming advice, I need an answer to the question.

I know the patch is a temp fix and as soon as I am confident that
this is the cause of the problem I will make a new release.

Please either email me the patch (in uuencoded binary, please), or
repost it--I seem to have missed it somehow. I have been burned by
the GOMF/Less v1.3 incompatibility, and I would like to help resolve
it.

I got a copy of your suggested patch ($FFFC487803EE487A =>
$FFFC601603EE487A), and applied it to a copy of Less v1.3.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to fix the problem. When I invoke
the patched Less to display a text file, GOMF still displays an error
requester, with the message:

Trap or Exception table was trashed.
	68000 vector at location $00000078
	was corrupted with value $002B41D8
