[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga and CD-ROM

philip@utstat.uucp (Philip McDunnough) (08/14/90)

There has been talk of a Commodore product called "CDTV". Does this exist, in
the sense that I can buy it? Furthermore, if one had an Amiga 3000, could
one hook up an internal/external CD-ROM of sorts to the SCSI port and have
the same functionality as the rumoured "CDTV? Given such as product, would it
work with the multisync Amiga monitor, or would you need the 1084?

I would appreciate any E-mail replies on the above or ANY related CD-ROM
capabilities of the Amiga(eg. whether a PC board could use a CD-ROM player
hooked up to the Amiga SCSI port).

Try to get a copy of Amazing Computing/Amiga magazine, July 1990.
On page 47 they have an entire article about CDTV, including both
external and internal photos of the unit. It is supposedly set to
hit the shelves in September. :-)
