[comp.sys.amiga] AmigaOS2.0 Compatibility.

BARRETT@owl.ecil.iastate.edu (Marc Barrett) (08/15/90)

I have a complaint about the compatibility of AmigaOS2.0 with existing
Amiga software. The compatibility is a little bit TOO GOOD.

If there is any program that should break under AmigaOS2.0, it is
DeluxeMusic. If there is any program that needs to be updated, it is
this one. It is slow, very buggy, uses a 640x200 custom screen (cannot
be run at any higher resolutions), and uses ancient file requesters.

Unfortunately, DMCS seems to run fine on the A3000 under OS2.0. As
a result, this program will likely NEVER be updated. Had DMCS broken
under OS2.0, there would at least be a glimmer of hope that EA would
update this program.

It is my hope that Commodore would, at the last minute before
AmigaOS2.0 is put into ROMs, do a minor code tweak that would only
break DMCS, and not break any other programs.
