[net.general] TV Interference with Cordless Phone

@pesnta.UUCP (10/15/83)

I just bought a cordless phone and noticed if I have it in the same
room as my TV, it will generate interference on channel 5. The interference
is a herring bone pattern and occurs whether or not I'm receiving or transmitting a call.
Plugging in the base set is sufficient to generate the interference.

For anyone who knows anything:

The phone channel is  4D.
The base transmits at 1.670 to 1.790 range (5 channels in here)
The base receives at 49.830 to 49.890 range (5 channels)
All the frequencies are in MHz.

Has anyone else had this problem and corrected it?

If I get a phone which broadcasts on a different channel (other than 4D)
will this improve things?

			Thanks in advance.
