I'm starting to have some problems with my single floppy drive on my 1 year old Amiga 2000. I've got my amy sitting on it's side. A few days ago, the drive starting giving me a little bit of trouble ejecting disks. When I press the eject button, the disk comes out *VERY* weakly, not at all like the good quick spit out it was before. Is the eject mechanism just a spring that I could replace myself (since it is out of warranty) or should I start looking for a new drive? If I need a new drive, that would make me very sad, since I was about to buy a second drive and finally get around the infernal compile, swap, swap, swap, swap ..... cy- cle. ********************************************************** * Tom Hayko * only the Amiga /// * * tjhayko@thunder.lakeheadu.ca * (if only Commodore /// * * * knew that) \\\/// * * * \XX/ * ********************************************************** QUIT

tjhayko@THUNDER.LAKEHEADU.CA writes about trouble with his floppy drive not
ejecting snappily. I've had a similar problem which I attribute to dust
sucked into the drive by the cooling fan in my A1000. I've been planning
to dismantle the drive and clean it. So far the problem has not been so
severe to make that action urgent. One of these days I'll be able to
report whether cleaning corrected the problem.

My first A1010 behaved just the opposite way: It started to throw disks out as if they were a discus, I had to catch them in free air (like Garfield above the toaster) or grab them from the floor. Sorry, no help, cause I don't know what was wrong with mine in detail, but I couldn't resist. -- Best regards, Dr. Peter Kittel // E-Mail to Commodore Frankfurt, Germany \X/ rutgers!cbmvax!cbmger!peterk
