[comp.sys.amiga] Amiga Educational Discounts

paleo@uncecs.edu (Constantine A. LaPasha) (01/20/90)

As stated by several others, I would like to see the Amiga educational
discounts extended to college and university staff as well. The
univ. here has reasonable discount programs for IBM & Mac available
to students, faculty & staff. Unfortunately, it seems to be
difficult to get an Amiga system at any of the state universities
here, especially for departments, since we are required to get
computer equipment through state contract and the state only
contracted for Amiga systems for grades K-12 ... smart, huh.

Anyway, I've been in contact with several local dealers concerning
the educational discounts, and they were originally under the
impression that it applied to students and teaching faculty for
grades K-12 only. ??? are they just mis-reading the papers or what?

If Commodore really wants to make inroads into the educational market,
I would think it unwise to ignore the college/university clientel.
And, IMHO, I think it would be beneficial to extend it to
college/university staff as well.

 ... just my opinions ...

Does anyone know if these discounts will be available in Canada?

Gee, I had the impression that the educational discount was reserved for higher
education institutions! Seeing how much confusion there is on the net about
I'll try contacting John Harrison, Director of Ed. Marketing, and wrestle a
communique out of him that can be posted on the net.

I'm interested in getting a new Amiga through the educational discount
plan. Unfortunately, I can't find a local dealer who will give me any
information about how to go about purchasing an amiga through the plan.
Could someone please either tell me how to order without going through
a dealer, or tell me where I can find an educational dealer in New Jersey
or Delaware?
