[comp.sys.amiga] PS/2 Disks to Amiga

jol@sei.cmu.edu (Jun Lee) (07/10/90)

Hi.

I have few PS/2 disks that I would like to read into my Amiga.
Is there any PD software that will read IBM PS/2 disks( 3/12") using
Amiga Floppy drive( df0: )??

I would wrather do it that way then to upload/download files.

 ThanX

That's assuming he wants to format the disks on the Amiga. It'll only allow
you to make 720K disks, and most people using PS/* are using High Density,
either 1.2 or 1.4 meg floppies... I've heard that there's a high density
drive that works on the Ami, but I haven't seen it.

Try CrossDOS! It works by mapping in a duplicate Trackdisk.device for
your DF1: (making it DI1:). These are treated as two different drives
by your Amiga, so you're not without your two drives.
I've used only the Read-Only version, but I've been able to import
WordPerfect 4.2 files directly into WP 4.1 on the Amiga. Of course,
this program will read text-only. To RUN the programs, you'll need a
                                Bridgeboard.

I've just purchased CrossDos 4.0, the R/W version. Features: relabel disks,
create directories, rename files & dir's, set dates, supports MS-DOS v.2.0
and higher, and other treats. My favorite features? Just click to install
and it automatically "knows" if the disk is Amiga or MS-DOS.

I paid two Hamiltons and a Lincoln, money well spent.
