It was noted here previously that all or part of the mode line from GNU Emacs gets lost when using VLT V4.824. I found the fix, and it is simple: you have to set destructive backspace OFF. GNU Emacs, and presumably all Unix termcap-driven programs, use control-H to move the cursor left. It apparently is now ON by default, which is a change from previous versions. There doesn't appear to be a menu item for this; the script command is DESTRUCTIVE OFF (DEST is the shortest allowed abbreviation). ------------------------------- Stephen Walton, Dept. of Physics & Astronomy, Cal State Univ. Clicking it off causes VLT to work fine with our version of EMACS (18.52) and tcsh. Also thanks to the person who is posting the vlt related programs to /incoming/amiga/ on abcfd!
