[comp.sys.amiga] I was whining, TurboSilver speed

PMXSG0%POPV03@dupont.com (08/21/90)

Looks like from the replies that I am getting the speed that is expected.
I am running the 28/28 MHz '030/'882 combo with 4 Mb 32-bit and an 80 Mb
hard drive. Looks like this combo will provide from 11-14 times the speed
of a stock Amy. Oh, this is also TS 2.0. Someone suggested that TS SV
might be a little faster. I wonder if Imagine will be any faster? New
rendering modes that provide speed AND shadows? I guess I am whining again
so I better quit.
Thanks for the replies,
mike scribner ponca city, OK

What you need to get is TS v3.0...the SV is the module you add for X-Specs
compatibility.

IMAGINE is supposed to use Turbo Silver's rendering engine, which is probubly
one of the fastest you'll find.

When I called Impulse about the SV version they also told me that it was
a little faster and produced a better image than the 3.0 version. I don't
have it so I can't testify to this. The SV version does it's designing
in HiRes also. I didn't have enough chip ram at the time so I didn't
upgrade. Maybe I should, now that I have my 3000.

Has Imagine been released? I haven't heard anything about the release date.
The last time I was at a dealer they still didn't have it nor any dates on it.
 Oh well.

I'm not saying this is the God's honest truth, but from what I've heard,
they're postponing the release of IMAGINE until they can sell off some more
TS3.0...

Apparently, now that word about Imagine is out, the price of TurboSilver
dropped like a rock, and now distributors can't even give it away.

IMAGINE is supposed to be ready to go...

If anyone would like to give me a copy of TS 3.0, I'd gladly pay
shipping and handling.

:-) if you think it needs it.

This is a retraction to my post on IMAGINE's relationship to TurboSilver
3.0...

It was a blatant rumor that I should have checked out before posting. Working
at an Amiga store, you hear all kinds of things...I really need to be more
careful about what I post in the future.

I'm sorry if this caused anyone any discomfort, and my sicerest apologies to
everyone at IMPULSE. You guys are doing a great job, and I look forward to
the eminent (sp) release of IMAGINE.
