[comp.sys.amiga] Times have changed

a665@mindlink.UUCP (Anthon Pang) (08/31/90)

I was rummaging through my desk and I found this letter, circa 1985.
Copied verbatim...any spelling mistakes introduced are mine.

I was quite impressed with it at the time...but times have changed
(except for the first paragraph). Perhaps I'll frame it :)

You know...It's not dated and it doesn't mention the version...maybe
we can convince a "stupid" dealer to send us 2.0, free?

Besides I never did get the 1.1 Enhancement Kit, I copied the store's
copies over my 1.0 disks. Hmmm...."Dear Commodore, ..."

Dear Amiga Customer,

Congratulations on your purchase of one of today's most impressive
products, the Amiga Computer.

The Amiga Computer is designed to afford you power and flexibility not
only today but in the future as well. History has shown us that the rapid
growth in the field of technology has often left new computer products
obsolete before they reach their prime. This is not the case for Amiga.
Because the Amiga's operating system is contained on a micro floppy
diskette, any technological advances will be readily available to you.

Commodore-Amiga is proud to inform you that technological advances have
been made to the Amiga Computer's operating system. Best of all, it is
readily available to you at no additional charge. You can simply go to
your dealer from whom you purchased the product and receive you Enhance-
ment Kit. Just present this letter to your dealer.

Everything you now own for your Amiga 1000 system will still work with the
new system software, and you will be able to reuse your original disks for
other things.

The Enhancement Kit includes many new and exciting programs to further
increase the power of the Amiga. Contact your dealer and arrange to
receive your kit now. Your dealer has all of the details.

This is just a small example of our commitment to continually support
Amiga customers. We are proud to be able to provide you with this
service.

Thank you for your business.

                              Sincerely,

                              Commodore-Amiga
