Sure, Adrian Belew has done things with his instrument that no man has done before, but is it really music? I strongly believe that this should be the bottom line in any argument, and not how "snobby" an artist appears to be. I myself do not find his style particularly tasteful to the ear. Also, even if Steve Hackett was influenced by Fripp (which I'm certain is true, to a point), this does not necessarily mean that he is any less talented. If this were true, then would the fact that Hendrix has influenced almost every guitarist in rock imply that he is necessarily better than them. No. In many cases, the student surpasses the master. Until next time.... JR
