[comp.sys.amiga] Flood : Flood problems :

watters@mad.cis.ohio-state.edu (david r watters) (08/31/90)

Well, I actually got quite lucky this week on the game buying. In addition
to picking up "Wings", I bought "Flood" which is being distributed by EA and
I love it!

First mark Flood down as another one of those STUPID games that uses the
processor to do timed head movements on the drive. So it has to be run under
the 68000.

Second, It still wouldn't run on a 2500/30 though it would run on a 2500?!?!

Solution: Keep the A2091 from autoconfig'ing. In other words, being able to
get the Workbench hand prompt after booting the machine. (This may
not be the solution, or even the only solution but this is what _I_
finally narrowed it down to after trying nofastmem, and KillChip'ing
the 1MB Agnus. How did I do the above, a program called "nofast"
which I found on palboot4.wrp. I assume this thing just turns of
the autoconfig stuff and reboots the machine because the full 1MB
of chip memory was left on and it ran fine.

Let's try that rating stuff:

Originality: 10+
Graphics: 8 (Tech wise)
Art Work: 10 (This covers the characters, ect.)
Music: 8 (Kind of cheezy but fits the mood very well)
Sound F/X: 10+ (This is where the game really shines!)
Playability: 10
Longevity: 9
'030||'020:  No
CopyProtection: Yes, and it's a grinder! _PLUS_ Key word entry from a poster.
HD install: No
MultiTask: No

Overall: I would give "Flood" a very strong 9, and would suggest it to
anywone! (Aside from the usual copy protection woes!!)

Warning: This one is definitely protected too well, and may give the average
to begining user trouble when trying to run it on a autobooting HD.
(at least one with a 2091, if my above reasoning is correct.)

Yes, and it WON'T run on the 3000. I saw it running on a machine at the store
and luckily they let me try it on a 3000. Title screen: O.K.; copy protect
question: O.K.; game screen: GARBAGE.

Does anyone think these companies will start to support faster processors?
