[net.general] Help needed with UNIX APL

peters@cubsvax.UUCP (10/17/83)

SORRY for posting this to net.general -- this was originally posted
to net.lang.apl on October 6, and is msg #6 in that news group. Since
I received no reply, I'd appreciate it if any of you could pass this
note on to a UNIX-APL hacker colleague, or, alternatively, send me the
name and address or pathname of one you might know of. (16 Oct 83)

Does anyone out there have any experience with Unix 4.1 APL?
Specifically, I'm having trouble with input-output I-beams,
and with execute (monadic epsilon). There are probably other bugs as well,
but until these are fixed I probably won't get any further.

I am working at a VAX 780 through an ASCII terminal.
The APL on our system seems to be UCSF APL. The most recent source
code is in files dated May, 1980. No one else in this facility has ever
been interested in APL, and I'm hoping someone who gets
this message can guide me to a version that will work.

Incidentally, I came to this facility and to Unix only 6 months ago,
and only recently discovered that APL exists here. I've done
applications programming in APL for about 7 years on IBM systems,
and am reasonably fluent in the language. I would very much like
to meet Unix APL enthusiasts, particularly in the NYC area.
