Can somebody tell me where I can get XWindows for my Amiga? I would prefer something of the public domain persuasion. Chris

I've seen two incarnations of X on the Amiga at SigGraph. One is X Window on the A3000 under UNIX. Of course this hasn't been officially released yet, and I have no idea when it will be. The other is a server for X, I believe, by Dave somebody at GFXBase. I think it makes the Amiga a X server so you can connect it to a machine on a network who can run X. As far as going to public domain route, I would say, it's not worth your time and effort at least until UNIX comes out for the Amiga. The X source can be had from MIT, but it's very UNIX. I compiled it and got it to run on our SYSV machine here at work but the Amiga would be a major port of several megabytes worth of files. You should be able to find ads for the GFXBase stuff in some Amiga magazine to give you a number to call for more info. Hope this helps. Steve Brailsford >>> uunet!oscmd!stsim!fsb
