I've been getting interesting behaviour. I installed UNIX lharc v1.00 on the SUN-3 here and have been trying to work with it. I made created an .lzh archive on the SUN. UNIX lharc retrieves files from that archive with no problem. Problem: files transferred to the Amiga keep on generating CRC errors and garbage when decompressed using ANY of the Amiga un-Lharc'ing programs. However, files on AB20, when transferred to the SUN, get decompressed with no problem, and when transferred to the Amiga using the same method as the SUN-generated archives decompress fine. So the UNIX lharc archives seem to be a superset of the amiga .lzh archives which Amiga lharc programs can't handle. If the authors of the amiga programs would like, I can email them either the UNIX lharc source, a UNIX .lzh archive, or both, so they can resolve this problem. Please e-mail the response since I basically often miss a lot of stuff in this group with (c)atchup, or else follow-up to c.s.a.tech if you think it's appropriate. It looks like maybe something got lost in the translation. The question is: is it the UNIX or Amiga versions which are incorrect? -- panon@staff.ucs.ubc.ca or USERPAP1@UBCMTSG or ppanon@undergrad.cs.ubc.ca or USERPAP1@mtsg.ubc.ca Looking for a .signature? In article <9380@ubc-cs.UUCP> I wrote:
[some stuff about problems I was having trying to transfer UNIX-made
lharc files and de-archiving them on an Amiga]
I got four good responses from people suggesting possible sources of problem.
Unfortunately none of them seemed to apply so I deleted the .lzh files I'd
made, re-built them and re-transferred them, and they worked! BTW, I don't
think it was an ascii vs. binary transfer problem like somebody else
suggested. I compared the size of the old lharc file and it was SMALLER than
the newer, correct version. If the initial transmission had been doing text
conversion, the CR->CRLF change should have made the first (corrupted) file
larger.
Oh well, the same day a print job I submitted on a different host only had
the odd-numbered (front) pages printed. Bizarre. Maybe it was the phase of
the moon or something :-) :-) :-)
Sorry about troubling everyone.

I would also like to have the UNIX source to LHARC. I cannot unarchive any of the programs at ABCFD20! Arrrrgh! CCUWINT@INDSVAX1
