This isn't strictly related to the Amiga, but I need to ask someone and I do use my A1000 for this stuff. Anyway, I recently moved from Montgomery AL to Colorado Springs CO. I log into usenet through a LAN in Ohio and all comp.sys.amiga.* comes to me by email through the amiga relay at UDEL.EDU. Ever since the move, whenever I list my message while in my email reader (em in UN*X), it will only scroll the index through about 18 entries before it starts losing characters and everything gets jumbled after that. I end up list 15 at a time, rather than all of them, because of this. The modem works fine on BBSs, etc., and I don't have the same problem at work using a Zenith Z-248 and ProComm, so I assume it's either the phone line at home or my modem or poor Amy. BTW. I can download without any trouble using CKERMIT on the UN*X or ZMODEM, etc., on BBSs. I'm using Platinum Online like always. I have a 1200 baud SmarTEam modem. Any ideas on where to look for the problem? Thanks for any pointers to a solution. I guess I could bring the modem home from work and see if that makes a difference. To make this more germane, has everyone seen the ad in AmigaWhirled for the CD-ROM with the Fred Fish collection and a bunch of other PD stuff?

Well, my problems do not seem to be with the modem or software. I brought my modem home from work and I have the same difficulty. I also tried VT100 and still the same. So, I guess it is a telephone line problem. I will rearrange some lines and see what happens. Cheers, Dave
