G'day,
{I'm sorry to be YAWAXP (Yet Another Whiner About newXanth Programs) but this
is for a friend. :-)}
My friend (and I verified it for 1 program) has tried FTP'ing various unarced
demos from newxanth recently with no success. I think that in all cases the
files are exe's. After transfering to his(*) (and my in my(*) case) VAX the
files are larger than they should be.
A specific case is the file incoming/amiga/KEFRENS_VIII/PutTrax which enlarges
by about 500 bytes (I suspect by about 512 bytes precisely .. I don't have the
numbers here) after transfer.
He doesn't have any trouble transferring .lzh and .z files.
I verified that using TYPE IMAGE (and even TYPE LOGICAL-BYTE) file transfer
modes did not fix the problem for the PutTrax file.
Has anyone successfully downloaded non archived binary files from newxanth to
a VAX system? Or even PutTrax as a specific case? What was your procedure?
