[comp.sys.amiga] Rumors about problems with Ed. Disc.

bwdavies@rodan.acs.syr.edu (Davies) (09/11/90)

A friend of mine who is considering buying an Amiga is having second thoughts
because of some things he's read from an Amiga-oriented mail list.

Simply put, these messages suggest that buying an Amiga on the Educational
Discount Plan could be very costly. If you get your Amiga on the Ed. Disc.
plan, and something goes wrong (soon or immediately), what is the procedure?

These messages suggest that you will be violating the contract you have to
sign if you attempt an exchange for a machine in dealer stock, and that the
dealer would probably be unwilling to make that exchange in the first place.

If something goes wrong later, can the machine be brought back to the dealer
for service or does it need to be sent back to Commodore or to the nearest
authorized service center?

I haven't yet bought an Amiga, and this may make me think about it a bit more.
Please help!

Thanks,

Machines purchaced on the Educational program can be serviced at ANY
authorized service station for warranty work. Whether or not you bought the
machine direct from Commodore, after you get it, it's like any other Amiga
(within the regs on the Educational purchace agreement).
