[comp.sys.amiga] Quarterback Tools

xrtnt@amarna.gsfc.nasa.gov (Nigel Tzeng) (09/14/90)

I'm about to order Quarterback and I noticed this rather bland ad in A-World
(Sept 90 p87) for Quarterback Tools. It claims to be the "fastest and easiest"
way to recover lost files. It also says it will defragment your HD and mark
out bad blocks and fix corrupted directories.

Does anyone know how well it works? I kind of assume it is a new product
(since it wasn't mentioned in the threads on disk recovery etc) but the
September issue has been out for a month now so I'm hoping someone knows
something about it.

If it works as promised then it should be a fairly nice thing for people to
have. I don't know what BAD does besides defragmenting disks but this seems a
lot closer to a disk tool set (a la MacTools) than the impression I get from
BAD ads (hmmm..that rhymes).

BTW: What compression alg does quarterback use? On my friend's system it is
fast and it doesn't seem to use up too many disks.
