While reading a copy of "Amiga Format" (a british computer mag) the other day, I saw a statement that "Soundtracker" was public domain. I have not, however, ever seen it offered as part of any PD collection. It ain't on the fish disks, it ain't in the T-Bag collection, it isn't anywhere as far as I can judge. I got a copy from a friend with the assurance that it was PD, but I'm beginning to wonder. I make it my policy to destroy anything that I think may be pirated since I now have too great an investment in my Amiga to risk having it confiscated over a lousy $39 piece of software (not to mention the embarassment of it all). Besides, I'd rather pay for my games and get documentation too! Anyway, I heard that Noisetracker was derived from Soundtracker and was PD, now I hear that it's pirated. What's the story? Would someone who had or has something to do with either of these packages please speak up and settle this question? If my Soundtracker is pirated, I'll nuke it. No questions asked.
