Apparently my mail message went to that great bit bucket in the sky so I'll try again. I need to replace the floppy disk drives in A1000. Both the internal and the external drives. I'd like to get them through mail order (so I only have to pay $70 rather than $120) so I need to know what floppy drives will work. I plan to just swap out the old ones and replace them with the new ones. I know I need to get floppy drives that have a disk change signal available and I think they have to have 3ms track to track access times. I have heard that Toshiba ND352, FDD4216, and FDD4210 work. Is this correct? What do I need to know to make them work? Are there other drives that will work (e.g. TEAC)? Do I have to switch any signals on the edge connector? What jumpers do I have to watch out for? I recently heard that Chinon drives are what are normally used in Amigas now - what about them? Any help will be greatly appreciated. ============================================================================== Carl D. Blake | My opinions are my own.
