[net.general] view from Olympus

The 10,000 foot runway in N. Carolina is being constructed by the same
wonderful people who built the one in Granada - the helpful volunteer
construction workers from Cuba. They were hired by the CIA, based on their
recent experience. This and other, similar plots and strategies are products
of the CIA's plans for world conquest. Long ago, they divided their force
into two units - CIA blue and CIA red - and these two have been engaged in
nefarious and ruthless subversion for many years. The Russians have been
complaining about the continued reference to their association with the CIA
reds, since such relationship would besmirch their good reputation - and we
know that they never engage in such activities because they tell us so.
I found that my plumbing problem last week was caused by a CIA red being
wedged in a pipe. Also, the cause of my car not starting was probably
caused by one of them - maybe a CIA blue this time. It seems logical (in an
Orwellian sense, especially since 1984 is almost upon us) that if we rid
ourselves of the CIA, FBI, IRS, ABC, XYZ,..., we would therefore be able to
correct the ills of the world, eliminate cancer, reduce the population
explosion, soften hard rock, bring maturity to the net, and eliminate such
vitiolic catharses as this. Personally, I believe that the root cause of the
whole problem is the IRS.

Re: view from Olympus

Thanks for your Olympian view. (End of frosty humorless radical opining.)

Actually, there do exist competing intelligence agencies deriving from the
same nation. There is the old Gaullist spynet in Africa, which lost
government support in the late 70's, at odds with the current French agency.
Much of the problem in Chad springs from Spy vs. Spy shenanigans as these
people try to trip each other up. Diana Johnstone has some details in a
back issue of In These Times on the Chad situation--much more background
than I have seen in the NY Times, albeit with the usual leftist biases.
