What!!!!  Mentioning Fripp in the same breath with DiMeola??????  Why that's
like comparing Steve Howe and Eddie van Halen!!!! :-))))))

BTW, Richard Thompson has done some unusual and bizarre collaborations with
David Thomas, vocalist of the extremely non-mainstream group Pere Ubu (though
they did do a cover of "Sloop John B", or was that Thomas alone??).  Pere Ubu
was once described by the Village Voice (in about 1978, when Devo had first
come into "prominence") as the band that makes Devo sound like the Carpenters.
(This caused my friend Greg to immediately rush out and buy their album, and
every release since then.)

Those who know Pere Ubu (and those who don't) should read the play "Ubu Roi"
from which they got their name.  Sort of reads like extended dialog between
the French knights who randomly appeared in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".
Richard and Linda Thompson list Pere Ubu as their favorite group.
