[comp.sys.amiga] BattleForce

jones@uv4.eglin.af.mil (Calvin Jones, III) (09/17/89)

I've placed the latest version (3.05) of the freely distributable
BattleForce game in the info-amiga/pub archive at TRANTOR (128.8.10.14).

This is *NOT* and arcade game, but rather a simualtion based on the FASA
board game 'BattleTech'. Player(s) control simulated Mechs that compete
against one another or the computer, while trying to optimally manage the
resources of the Mech.

If you like this version, the author sells a full RPG version for a nominal
fee.

Hi all,
Sorry for the net posting, but...

Could the person who posted the message about BattleForce please send
me some e-mail, I'd like to correspond and I lost your address.

			Thanks...Tony

niobium@arrakis.nevada.edu (Christopher W. Carlson) (09/20/90)

Hello, and HELP!! I just bought a nifty A500 system with a 62MB hard drive
and was trying last night to install the (supposedly) wonderful PD game
BattleForce, to no avail. It was downloaded from an FTP site (not sure
which one, tho) and most definitely did NOT come packed up the way that it
was described in one of the READMEs.

Fortunately, I noticed the 'Listing' file and followed its advice in where
to locate everything in the subdirectory that it resides in, and actually got
it to start running. Then, after you have selected the teams, a really
pretty box pops up telling me that it "Can't Lock Orders Subdirectory." It
then proceeds to Guru.

I have tried EVERYTHING, believe me. If anybody can help (I assume that
at least ONE person has tried to install this game), please e-mail, and
assume that I know NOTHING (don't want to have something glossed over
because of a misunderstanding).

Thanks much for your time.
