[comp.sys.amiga] Zkick on abcfd20

Bill.Frandsen@samba.acs.unc.edu (BBS Account) (09/21/90)

I just obtained the file called "Zkick210b.lzh" from the new Xanth.

According to the doc file (which was rather vague), it seemed to appear
that this program was written to allow any Amiga user (A500/A200) to
load up Kickstart2.0, and riun it.

It said the only requirements were to have access to the Kickstart2.0
file, the associated 2.0 system files, a RAM board in at $200000, and this
program.

After borrowing 2.0 from a friend who has a 3000, and running this program,
the system tries to cold-boot 2 different times, and then boots back into
1.3.

Am I reading more into the doc file that was printed? Does it REALLY require
a MMU, just like SetCPU does? Or is there something to do with my hard-drive
configured for 1.3? Or is the Kickstart on the 3000 not compatible at all
with a 2000 (even a 2500 with a MMU?), like some previous discussions had
referred to?

My System: 6.2 Motherboard, A2000. Bridgeboard (2088), Supra 2/8Meg RAM
board at $200000, Supra WordSync HD Controller w/ST-157-N-1 drive.

You need the real developers release 2.0, not the 2.0 that comes with
the 3000. The Kickstarts are different. If you aren't a developer, with access
to the developers release of 2.0, ZKick doesn't do any good for you.
