"Feature" #1... Zoo sometimes gives me CRC check failed errors on my machine,
but not on other machines... Example, I have a floppy with
uucp1.06D.zoo.1 on it and the zoo 2.01 executable... I try
to extract it on my machine and I get 4 files which fail CRC.
On a friend's machine, with that same floppy and same exec., I
have no such trouble. My machine is a rev 4.3 B2000 KS1.2,
WB1.3.2 and Microbotics 8UP! populated to 2MB. His machine is
only a few months old, so I don't know the revision, but it
KS1.3 and 1MB chip memory where mine has 512K chip memory. His
also has a SupraRam card populated to 2MB...
I also tried it on an A500 1MB w/KS1.3 and 512K chip memory.
and it worked flawlessly...
"Feature" #2...
When packing files which are already quite compact, i.e. .GIF,
.ZOO, .Z, etc. you will often end up with an archive which is
larger than the original file...
Easily enough fixed by adding a check to see if the output
file is larger than the input file and if so, just store it
it instead. I believe this problem is seen also in the unix
also in the unix zoo...
I hope this is just a KS1.3 vs KS1.2 problem and not a faulty memory chip...
I ran a memory check on my expansion board, and it is fine... I don't have
a memory check for main memory, I've got a full meg available there...
Is it possible that some other program is causing the problem?
