I know that there has been a lot of bandwidth wasted discussing the merits and faults of the DCTV and HAM-E devices, but they sound interesting enough to me (and I have some $$ to spend right now) that I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. First of all, has there been any info released on the SPECS for either of these devices on the net? If so, could someone email them to me? Now to the specific questions: 1) Does either one work on an A3000 (now that I have one)? 2) How do these things attach to the Amiga and how do they output their signals? What I am getting at is that I would want to RECORD their output on my VCR (24-bit KLUDGE animations ;^). I have a CMI VI-500RF and an Amigen. What possible configurations are there for the DCTV and HAM-E devices and my genlock device and video encoder? 3) What do you have to do to get a 24-bit image? I have SA 3D and Turbo Silver, both of which "generate" 24-bit images. Will these be displayed by either of these devices? What happens if I take a Photon Paint HAM image and run it through them? Do I get a 4096 color image, or does it somehow "magically" create 16 million colors from my image (if so, how does it determine what colors go where? Is there some sort of image processing involved, or some conversion (like The Art Department?))? 4) How much do they cost? Who makes them? Where can I get them (direct from the company or can I mail order (which mail order houses))? 5) Has anyone out there actually USED one or both of these? How about just having seen one in action? Can I get comments from you (what is it really like, etc.)? Thanks, PLEASE EMAIL ALL RESPONSES TO ME. LET'S NOT TAKE UP ANY MORE NET SPACE THEN NECESSARY. Scott Sutherland sutherla@qtp.ufl.edu
